Coach Andy Monfre enters his 20th year at New Berlin Eisenhower and his second as Varsity Head Coach of the Girls Basketball Program. He was previously the Varsity Assistant under future hall of fame coach Gary Schmidt where he helped lead Eisenhower to the 2016 State Title and the 2018 State Runner-Up. Prior to joining the Ike Girls program, Coach Monfre was a Varsity Assistant under Coach Dave Scheidegger and the Ike Boys program for five seasons, including the 2008 State Championship season. Coach Monfre also runs Monfre Basketball, under which he directs camps and clinics for some of the area’s top high school and youth players. He was an all-conference point guard at Eisenhower and helped lead Ike to its first Regional Title in 9 years (2002). Coach Monfre is a graduate of UW – La Crosse and Marquette Law School and is a full time attorney at Advocate Aurora Health. He and his wife Luna live in Wauwatosa with their son Martin.
Varsity Assistant Coach
Coach Gary Brueggemann enters his second season with the New Berlin Eisenhower Girls Basketball Program. Most recently, Coach Brueggemann was the JV2 boys head coach at Greendale High School and previously served as JV1 head coach with Whitefish Bay Dominican and New Berlin Eisenhower boys basketball. He began his coaching career as a varsity assistant to hall of fame coach Dave Scheidegger. Coach Brueggemann has served on the varsity staff of five State Championship teams (2008 New Berlin Eisenhower, 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , and 2015 Whitefish Bay Dominican). As a player, he was an all-conference shooting guard at New Berlin Eisenhower whose range extended into multiple zip codes (he once hit a 3 from an opponent's gym...during a home game). Coach Brueggemann is a graduate of UW – La Crosse and works full time as a physical education teacher at Milwaukee Public Schools and part time as a youth golf instructor and coach. He is also the go-to authority on Wisconsin State Fair cuisine trends and developments.
JV1 Head Coach
Coach Miles Bankston enters his second season with the New Berlin Eisenhower Girls Basketball Program. Prior to relocating to Wisconsin to pursue a masters degree at Concordia University Wisconsin, Coach Bankston was the Head Sophomore and Varsity Assistant Girls' Basketball Coach at Hinsdale South High School and a player development associate and video coordinator assistant for the WNBA's Chicago Sky. He has had previous coaching stints with the Lake Forest College Women's Basketball and Buffalo Grove High School Girls' Basketball programs. Coach Bankston owns and operates Bank Shot Elite, a basketball training company providing camps, clinics, and training to players ranging from 3rd grade to professional. Coach Bankston played 4 years of Division III basketball at Wilmington College of Ohio (degree is Sports Management). While not coaching or studying, Coach Bankston works as a substitute teacher at Eisenhower.
JV2 Head Coach
Coach Keith (Kal) Loewus enters his fourth season with the New Berlin Eisenhower Girls Basketball Program and his first as head coach of the JV2 squad. Prior to serving as JV2 head coach he served two years as a special assistant to both the JV1 and JV2 Eisenhower Girls Basketball teams and several varsity summer league teams. Prior to joining the IkeGBB staff, Coach Loewus was the head coach for numerous 5th through 8th grade youth basketball teams at St. Matthias Catholic School (Milwaukee) for 14 seasons. Five of his teams secured invites to the prestigious Padre Serra Tourney and many of his players went on to successful high school careers. Coach Loewus has worked with and been mentored by future hall of fame coaches Joel Claassen, Jim Gosz, and Scott Herrick. He resides in New Berlin with his wife Shirley (of 24 years) and they have three daughters in college (Carly, Jenna, Meagan). All three of their daughters are proud alumni of Ike athletics.
Drew Pelon enters his 21st season at New Berlin Eisenhower. In addition to serving as the manager for the Girls Basketball Program, Drew also assists many other sports at Eisenhower, including Football, Boys Basketball, Soccer, and Softball. Drew has served on the Varsity staff of four state title teams (2008 Boys Basketball, 2008 Girls Softball, 2010 and 2016 Girls Basketball). Drew is a lefty shooting/point guard for the New Berlin Lions and shoots over 90% from the line.
Traci Vanderloop, LAT enters her 7th season as the athletic trainer for New Berlin Eisenhower athletics. Traci graduated from Carroll University with a degree in athletic training and works for Midwest Orthopedic Specialty Hospital. Traci has been instrumental in the success of the Eisenhower Girls Basketball program, including assisting in strength training, agility work, and injury prevention. Unconfirmed rumors suggest Traci's favorite team at Eisenhower is girls' basketball.
